At Operation HOPE, our coaches don’t just improve credit scores—they change lives. This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re proud to spotlight one of our incredible bilingual coaches, Alex Herrera, whose dedication and compassion have helped families transform their financial futures.

One couple Alexander worked with came to Operation HOPE with a good credit score, but they were drowning in debt and struggling with high rent payments. Owning a home seemed like an impossible dream. However, with Alexander’s guidance, everything changed. Being able to communicate in their native language was a game-changer, as they could finally discuss their financial concerns with someone who understood both their language and their aspirations.

Here’s how Alex helped them:

• He advised selling one of their two cars, cutting down on car payments and gas expenses.
• He encouraged them to start carpooling to save even more on transportation costs.
• He recommended offering private swim lessons to add a source of income.
• He helped them plan meals to reduce takeout expenses and save even more.

By following these steps and completing the Credit and Money Management program, they made tremendous progress. In just a year, they saved over $40,000, eliminated their debt, and—most importantly—turned their dream into reality: they purchased their first home!
