April 29, 1992

In response to the acquittal of four white LAPD officers on trial for the brutal beating of African American motorist, Rodney King, Los Angeles saw four days of rioting and civil unrest. The incident has left a lasting impact, not just on the city, but also on the national discourse on race and justice in America. It also marked the genesis of an idea that would spark the birth of Operation HOPE, which is now the nation’s largest non-profit dedicated to financial literacy.
