MBDA Enterprising Women of Color (EWOC)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN THE MBDA ENTERPRISING WOMEN OF COLOR SMALL BUSINESS PROGRAM

WHAT IS EWOC

The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) developed Enterprising Women of Color (EWOC) to focus on the fast-expanding minority women entrepreneur population as a revenue generator for families, communities, and the nation. Minority women are the fastest growing population of entrepreneurs.

FACT: About 50%  of women-owned businesses are women of color.

FACT: Women reinvest about 90% of their earnings into their families and communities.

While many women are making tremendous strides in the business world, they still face obstacles as entrepreneurs. MBDA serves as an advocate for economic empowerment by supporting efforts to advance equality for women.

Operation HOPE serves as an MBDA partner to provide support to women entrepreneurs – we are here to help level the playing field.

The Small Business Program includes:

  • A 2-hour Small Business Workshop – anchored by entrepreneurship training, this workshop allows participants to master business basics and gain access to funding to support a strong launch and the ongoing growth of their businesses.
  • An 8-Week Entrepreneurial Training Program (ETP) is designed to help you create a business plan using a practical curriculum designed to empower aspiring entrepreneurs with the tools and skills to successfully navigate the path to small business ownership—combining business training, personal development, access to professional services, and financial counseling through partnerships with a direct network.
  • Technical Assistance (TA) is one-on-one coaching that provides specialized assistance in a particular area of your business.
  • Provide access to Subject Matter Experts to offer support on specific topics.

Operation HOPE believes in a holistic approach to small business which includes The Credit and Money Management Program.

  • A Credit Workshop helps you to understand what makes up your credit score, and how to establish and/or rebuild your credit.
  • Embedded in our One-on-One Credit Counseling is where we empower clients to take control of their finances, by creating a budget, reducing and paying off debt, and clearing errors from their credit reports.

Before banks make any funding decisions for a small business, they generally examine your personal credit – have a clean credit history without getting caught off-guard.

These programs will help pave the way for a solid foundation for your small business to take root and grow.
